Dublin family devastated after beloved pet dog is stolen from front garden of home

A Dublin family has been left devastated after their beloved pet dog was snatched from their front garden on Monday.

Bebe, a black and white female Cavachon who is five-years-old, was taken from her home at The Ward Cross in Dublin 11 near the Dublin/Meath border.

She was seen by a neighbour being taken by a woman and put into a black Volkswagen Golf Car that was being driven by a man and went in the direction of Ashbourne.

Bebe normally wears a brown leather collar with ID tags, but her owners believe that it was probably taken off of her. She is neutered.

Anyone with information, no matter how little, is being asked to get in touch in an effort to find her.

Her owner Shane told Dublin Live: "She's our family pet. If you were to call her name, she would definitely react.

"I didn't even want to let my own kids know. But even spreading the word online, there's so many families out there that are left devastated, demented with worry about dogs being snatched like this.

"Bebe was outside the house when a black Golf came along. It was a lady in her mid 40s, with short black curly hair and the car was being driven by a man.

"A neighbour didn't realise it was our dog, they thought it belonged to someone else, and the woman claimed she was hers.

"She became quite belligerent. They drove off toward Ashbourne. We checked the CCTV at the local garda, and they turned off at Cool Quay.

"The laws are too lenient about this, we have her papers and if anyone has any information at all about where she could be we'd really appreciate if they could get in touch."

A reward is being offered for Bebe's safe return, and all contact with her owners will be in the strictest confidence. Anyone with information is asked to contact Shane at 0857356095.
