All-Ireland five-in-a-row chasing Dublin are expected to receive a first-round bye in next year's Leinster SFC.
The Leinster Council will meet on Wednesday night to vote on sending the holders of the Delaney Cup through to the final four before a ball is even kicked, according to the Irish Independent.
Dublin have won 14 of the last 15 Leinster football titles and their move into the semi-finals would mirror a similar decision taken to move Kilkenny up during their period of hurling dominance in the province in the mid-00's.
The idea was first floated back in 2015 by then Leinster chairman - and now GAA President - John Horan, after Dublin's demolition of Longford in their opening round encounter.
That same Longford game, as it happens, was the first step along the road to the current drive for five, which Dublin aim to complete next Saturday against Kerry.
Under the proposal, Longford, Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow, Louth, Offaly and Westmeath would be joined by a randomly drawn semi-finalist of last year's championship - one of Kiladre, Meath, or Laois - to play in the preliminary round before advancing to join the other two semi-finalists in the quarter-finals.
