Dublin drops thirteen places to 43 in Deutsche Bank quality of life index

Dublin has dropped thirteen places in the 2019 Deutsche Bank quality of life index.

Despite being ranked 30 in 2018, the capital has taken a nosedive and is now ranked lower than cities such as Cape town, Moscow, and Kuala Lumpur.

The quality of life index is a measure of the living standards across various cities. The index is calculated by calculating factors that affect overall quality of life in a given location.

These underlying sub-indices measure: consumer purchasing power, regional crime and safety, overall quality of health care availability, general cost of consumer goods, housing affordability, traffic congestion and commute times, overall pollution, and regional climate likeability.

The capital had one of the highest traffic commute time on the index, ranking higher than: Hong Kong, New York, Shanghai, and Sao Paolo.

Other more trivial information shows how Dublin is the fifth most expensive city on earth in which to buy 2 litres of the popular fizzy drink Coca-Cola.

As well as this, Dublin is second for cost of monthly internet, behind Dubai.

The capital is also the second-most expensive country in the world for a monthly-ticket of public transport, behind only London.
