Dublin Diary: Fair City star Victor Burke launches new gin at 'Wilde' event

The gin was flowing throughout the night at The Cellar Bar at The Merrion Hotel last week.

The occasion? The launch of Wilde Irish Gin, brainchild of Fair City actor Victor Burke and his two California-based business partners.

Lots of well-known faces were in the mix at the flashy launch event, including presenter and influencer James Kavanagh and model slash cookbook author Roz Purcell.

Wilde Irish Gin – named after the legendary Irish writer Oscar Wilde – promises to bring something new to an already saturated gin market.

A full 18 months in the making, the brand is hand-distilled in Ireland in small batches and contains notes of wild mountain purple heather and bitter orange peel.

The guests at last week's event certainly seemed to be enjoying it in both cocktail and original form, while its distinctive purple bottle – a book-shaped body with a cap in the shape of Wilde's hand on a cane – will definitely stand out on your drinks cabinet.

Only time will tell as to whether this latest take on everyone's fave spirit is a 'Wilde' success. Watch this space.
