Dublin crime gangs getting braver as worrying new attack strategy emerging in Swords and Goatstown

Dublin crime gangs are getting much braver during this lockdown as a worrying new break-in strategy is emerging.

A spate of day time attacks have taken place in homes across Dublin in recent days which has placed fear in the hearts of residents from north to south.

Thieves have become more brazen and are targeting houses at peak day-time hours not caring that majority of the public are working from home.

In Swords, two hooded men attempted to break into a house on Castleview Avenue around 7pm on Thursday.

The thieves smashed the front door glass panels but failed to gain entry.

Residents there are being urged to check their CCTV and keep an eye out for the duo who were reportedly in a dark grey, saloon car.

Miles away on the southside, a house was hit in an estate in Goatstown during a similar attack.

The thieves targeted the break-in at around 6pm smashing the patio door but were also unsuccessful in their burglary plans.

A source said that Gardai warned Swords locals after the attack that gangs were targeting the 5-8pm time slot in the hope of catching people "popping out for a walk after work".

Homeowners are being reminded once again to put their alarms on and lock all doors even if they are only heading out for a couple of minutes.
