Dublin Covid hotspot areas with highest and lowest rates shows big concerns in six areas

Rates of COVID-19 in Dublin have begun to flatten out across the capital with continued decreases on last week's figures.

And while the areas at the top of the table have seen small decreases and even some increases, the bottom half has really started to drop to very promising levels.

Seven Dublin areas sit below the nationwide 14-day incidence rate of 131.7, with six of those seven posting rates lover than 100.

The incidence rate of cases per 100,00 people over 14 days is used to measure the levels of infection in local areas across the country.

Ongar in West Dublin tops the Dublin infection charts while also being the second-worst hit area for COVID-19 in the country between March 30th and April 12th.

In fact, Dublin's top six all sit inside the national top ten for worst affected areas.

There were 393.5 cases per 100k people recorded in the Ongar Local Electoral Area over those two weeks, which is second only to Tullamore on this island.

Tallaght South is in second place this week with 366.6; Ballymun-Finglas sits third with 358.1 while Donaghmede is fourth on 339.

Swords rounds out the top five with 334.8 cases per 100,000, with the North Inner City also hitting 320.7.

Blackrock impressively sits at the bottom of the table on just at 32.6 and Stillorgan joins them below the 50 barrier with 42.6.

The southside dominates the bottom of the table, with Dun Laoghaire having the third lowest rate on 67.3, followed by Dundrum (74.8) and Pembroke (88).
