Dublin community rocked by death of 'lovely gent' firefighter

A Dublin community has been left heartbroken after the death of a "lovely gent" firefighter.

Tributes have been flowing in after Robert (Bobby) Doyle died on Tuesday.

He was described as "an absolute gent" who "loved a laugh and a pint".

A spokesperson said on the Donnybrook Fire Station - Station 1 Facebook page: "I had the pleasure of working with Bobby several times over the years while he was in Alpha District.

"Another good man gone too soon. May he rest in peace."

Devastated friends and colleagues took to the comments to pay their respects.

One person said: "He was an absolute gent and we had great laughs on “B” Watch HQ. God bless Bobby. Rest in peace, pal."

Another person added: "Shocked yet again to hear another great bloke passing away. Rest in peace, Bobby."

A third person said: "Worked with him on B watch for 17 years, an absolute gent, he enjoyed a laugh and a pint. Very sad news. RIP, Bobby."
