Tributes have flowed in for a "true legend" shop owner who died over the weekend.

Christy O'Riordan, the owner of the popular Christy's shop in Dublin city centre, will be laid to rest on Tuesday.

Hundreds of well-wishers took to social media following the tragic news to share their memories of local legend and his Mary Street store.

One person said: "Awe so sad. RIP Christy.

"Loved that shop. If he hadn't got what you wanted he'd always say leave it with me and by and behold he'd have it the next time you went in. Condolences to the family."

Another person said: "A true legend, I worked next door to Christy. Remember him always smoking his pipe. Condolences to all his family. RIP Christy."

A third person added: "He was a gentleman, my mom use to bring us into the shop when we were young and we love it then when my children were growing up we brought them into Christy also.

"Great memories of that shop and Christy. Sincere Condolence to his family. Rest in peace Christy."
