Tributes have poured in following the death of "lovely man" Michael Maher who passed away in Newcastle on Monday.
Michael, formerly of Fethard, Co. Tipparary, was an "active member of the Newcastle community"
A post on a local residents' page said: "It's with a heavy heart we post the funeral arrangements of our dear friend Michael Maher. A true Gentleman and a pillar in our community. His passing is and will be a great loss for Newcastle for some time to come .
"Our Thoughts and prayers are with the Maher Family at this sad time May he Rest In Peace ."
One person said online: "So sorry to hear the sad news. Michael was a true gentleman."
Another wrote: "So sorry to hear this news, such a lovely man. Condolences to the Maher family. RIP."
A third said: "Rest in peace, Michael. Sorely missed but never forgotten."
Michael's funeral mass will be held at 11am in St Finian's Church, Newcastle.
