Public consultation on changes to the Council's Parking Control Bye-Laws began in January 2020 and members of the public were able to make submissions.

The new rates were agreed during December's Council meeting.

Dermot Stevenson, Parking Enforcement Officer, said the new measures are designed to deter people from parking in the city for long stays.

He said: "The hourly parking charges are being increased to ensure that there is a suitable deterrent to long stay parking in the city and to encourage a high turnover of users of these parking spaces. We also want to encourage sensible parking in the city as well as asking motorists to consider alternative transport methods other than the private car ”.
