Dublin City library finds ‘most bizarre thing’ as they discover reader used potato as a bookmark

Dublin City library have found the “most bizarre thing” as they discovered that a reader used potato as a bookmark.

Through the years they have found readers using stamps, pressed flowers, money, postcards, small knives, cheesy singles and cooked slices of bacon to keep tabs on what page they are on.

But the most spud-tacular thing they’ve spotted so far has to be the potato.

Dublin City libraries roasted the person as they posted: “I wonder what the most bizarre things are that librarians have found in books?

“Stamps, pressed flowers, money, postcards, small knives, cheesy singles (wrapped), cooked slices of bacon…

“But a potato for a bookmark!

“Is there anything that can't or won't be used to mark someone's place in a library book?”

We’re absolutely rooting for the couch potato who used this special bookmark.
