Dublin City Council urges public to report stockpiling of bonfire material ahead of Halloween

The public has been urged to report any stockpiling of bonfire material ahead of Halloween.

Dublin City Council has called on locals around the capital to get in touch and let them know if they see any such activity.

It is part of their efforts to promote a safe and enjoyable Halloween for everyone - and a reminder that bonfires are illegal.

The steps you can take include:

  • Calling Dublin City Council’s Customer Services Centre (01) 222 2222 or after hours at 1800 293949
  • Reporting ‘bonfire materials’ online at http://www.dublincity247.ie/

Simon Brock of Dublin City Council’s Waste Management Services said: ”Last year Dublin City Council removed 600 tonnes of bonfire materials ahead of Halloween.

"This prevented the risk of serious injury to youngsters and damage caused by bonfires to the environment, parks, green spaces and property in the city.

"We need the public’s help to do this and we are calling on people to report stockpiling of bonfire material to us as soon as possible so we can remove it safely.

"We have received great assistance from the public in recent years and we are calling on people to assist us again in 2019.”
