Dublin City Council has received approval to build over 160 new social housing units in the northside.
The Department of Housing granted stage one approval for the construction of a new housing scheme in Kildonan in Finglas.
Out of the 166 units, 15 will be provided for the Tus Nua homeless project. The estimated cost for the project is €28.5 million.
Additionally the Council has also been granted approval for the comprehensive regeneration of the Constitution Hill Housing Complex in Dublin 7.
This proposal for the project, which costs an estimated €44.5 million, includes 66 extended and retrofitted apartments, 64 new apartments, one commercial unit, and a creche.
Approval has also been received for the re-development of the St Finbar’s Court Complex in Cabra.
This proposal consists of 46 new housing units for older persons.
A design team has been selected for the Emmet Road regeneration project, which proposes the development of close to 500 new homes, 70% of which will be for a Cost Rental Scheme.
Brendan Kenny, Deputy Chief Executive of Dublin City Council, said: “While there is still a good way to go on all these projects the approvals represent a key milestone and a strong momentum to bring them to fruition as soon as possible.”
