Dublin checkpoints catch three drivers under the influence during bank holiday Sunday

Three arrests were made in Dublin city this afternoon after drivers tested positive for drugs and alcohol.

The Dublin Metropolitan Region Roads Policing were carrying out mandatory testing checkpoints in the capital this afternoon.

Guards arrested three people as a result of these random checks.

2 drivers tested positive for drugs and another person had alcohol in their system.

An Garda Siochana are urging the public to take care on Irish roads this bank holiday and to #arrivealive at their destination.

They tweeted: “DMR Roads Policing carried out mandatory intoxicant testing checkpoints in Dublin city this afternoon resulting in 3 arrests, 2 for positive drug tests and 1 for alcohol.

#ArriveAlive”
