Dublin charity launch Operation Hydration appeal for water and suncream for city's homeless

A leading Dublin charity has launched an appeal for the public to donate water and suncream to help the city's homeless during the warm weather.

Inner City Helping Homeless' Operation Hydration Campaign have ordered two pallets of water and are asking the public and companies to donate extra water, suncream and aftersun to keep the homeless safe from sun stroke or dehydration.

It follows on from the charity's successful Homeless Hydration campaign during last summer's heatwave.

Many homeless hostels in Dublin are one night only, meaning homeless people often have to spend the whole day walking the streets in extreme heat.

ICHH CEO Anthony Flynn said: “With the continuous warm weather our teams are reporting issues with homeless people impacted by dehydration and sunburn so we are launching our Operation Hydration campaign to assist people that are on the streets day and night.

"During last summer’s campaign we got huge support from companies and the public who donated water and after sun which enabled us to help people on the streets and other homeless day services like the Capuchin Day Centre."

Anyone that wishing to donate water, sun cream or after sun to can do so by contacting ICHH on 01 8881804.
