Dublin cafe chain 3fe stops accepting reusable coffee cups amid growing coronavirus fears

A Dublin coffee chain has stopped accepting reusable cups amid growing coronavirus fears.

The news comes as there are currently 33 cases of the deadly virus on the island of Ireland.

The most recent ones being one male in the east of the Republic and three adults in the north.

Popular chain 3fe, who have cafes on Grand Canal Street and Sussex Terrace,  have shared the extra measures they will be taking to ensure the safety of their staff and customers.

These measures include no longer accepting reusable cups, no-handshake policy, encouraging contactless payment, and avoid leaving any litter or tissues in the cafe wherever possible amongst others.

A post on their Instagram page reads: “To ensure our staff and customers stay healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak, we’ll be doing a few things differently at 3fe for the foreseeable future:

“We will no longer be accepting reusable cups until further notice.

“A no-handshake policy is in place, feel free to fist bump us.

“If you need to cough or sneeze, do so into your arm and wash your hands and face straight afterwards.

“If you feel unwell or start to show symptoms please do not visit us until you feel better.

“Please use contactless payment if you have access to it.

“Please wash your hands before you visit where possible and please feel free to use the facilities in our shop too.

“Please avoid leaving any litter, tissues, or items behind unnecessarily.”
