Dublin Bus stops serving busy route due to 'mindless' anti-social behaviour

A busy Dublin Bus route was brought to a grinding halt on Thursday night following an incident of 'mindless' anti-social behaviour.

The 40 bus, which operates on a route between Charlestown Shopping Centre and Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, was stopped for over an hour due to the behaviour.

A spokesperson for Dublin Bus apologised to those affected in a statement, saying: "We wish to advise customers that due to anti-social behaviour route 40 will not serve Neilstown Rd/Fonthill Rd for the next hour.

"Nearest stop is Coldcut Road. Normal Service will resume at 11pm.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Former South Dublin Mayor Mark Ward slammed the behaviour as "mindless" and called on those responsible to stop.

He said: "40 bus will not be going down the Neilstown or Fonthill Road for the next hour due to anti-social behaviour. Mindless and pointless behaviour affects us all. Needs to stop!!!"
