Dublin Bus sleepy passengers' rude awakening as man causes Tallaght delay mayhem standing in middle of road

Sleepy passengers on board a Dublin Bus this morning got a rude wake up call when an awaiting passenger decided to stand in the middle of the road and stop it moving because they "weren't waiting more than 15 minutes for the next one".

The 27 bus was making its way down the Greenhills Road this morning heading toward the city centre but was unable to pick up any more passengers as it was filled to capacity -public transport is still operating at 25% capacity under Level 5 restrictions.

One person waiting at a bus stop near the Cuckoo's Nest decided they'd reached their limit when they couldn't get on board and stood in front of the bus before it could move off - not only delaying passengers on board but causing a traffic jam behind it.

The driver stuck to their guns and refused to let the passenger board and left them standing in the road for around five minutes - and the showdown only ended when an anonymous masked hero decided enough was enough.

An amused onlooker relayed the tale and admitted that while it was annoying they had to wait longer for the bus, you couldn't help but laugh as it played out.

They told Dublin Live: "Now that the schools are back the bus is busier in the morning so sometimes it will arrive and either be full or close to it so the driver has to refuse people because of the 25% capacity rule.

"So it arrived this morning and was full, like standing room only full, and this lad decided that he'd had enough and wanted to get on the bus no matter what. Said he wasn't going to wait more than 15 minutes for the next one.

"It's about to set off and he decides to stand in front of the bus and was refusing to budge until he was let on it. Fair play to the driver, he wouldn't let him on.

"He standing there for at least five minutes I reckon. Just refusing to move. Then some other lad decides he's had enough of this fella being an eejit and drags him off the road. And the lad that dragged him could have easily taken him so your man didn't stand a chance. Even so, he kept trying to go back and the other fella kept dragging him back to stop him.

"People have just had enough of the restrictions it seems."
