Dublin Bus routes forced to divert as anti-social behaviour increases once again

Several Dublin Bus routes were forced to divert this weekend due to anti-social behaviour.

Routes including the 56A in Tallaght and the 40/e in Finglas saw areas avoided due to the careless vandals.

The issues have appeared during the first weekend where restrictions have largely eased across the country, with many returning to public transport for the first time in months.

Face coverings are now mandatory on public transport for the safety of those travelling and working as social distancing is not possible with an increase in capacity.

Earlier this year, a number of incidents saw both passengers and drivers terrorised by thugs that were forcing routes to divert.

The incidents took place before a strict lockdown was enforced as the pandemic gripped Ireland.

Back in February, the NBRU's members were prepared to curtail services on the 27 route through the west Tallaght area due to the growing dangers for Dublin Bus drivers.
