Dublin Bus, Luas and Irish Rail set to return to 100 percent capacity next week

Transport Minister Eamon Ryan is finalising plans to allow capacity on all buses, trains and trams to return to 100% percent capacity from next week.

The Green Party leader is expected to propose plans to Cabinet to allow all restrictions on public transport capacity to be lifted from next Wednesday, September 1st.

Capacity on public transport has been 75% since July 19th, rising from the previous 50% limit.

The rise to 100% capacity was originally due to happen on August 5th but was delayed due to the Delta variant and rising case numbers.

If the Transport Minister's plans are approved by Cabinet next week, it will be the first time public transport has been at maximum capacity since the pandemic began.
