Dublin Bus forced to withdraw service on route 40 AGAIN due to anti-social behaviour

Dublin Bus were forced to withdraw service from a troubled Clondalkin route for the sixth time in two weeks because of anti-social behaviour.

Officials were forced to pull service from route 40 at the Neilstown Road from 7pm last night.

Dublin Bus posted a notice online saying the route would not be serving the area for the rest of the evening.

It read: "We wish to advise customers that due to anti social behaviour route 40 will not serve Neilstown Road, Fonthill Road for the rest of tonight.

"Nearest stop is Coldcut Road. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Last week, Dublin Live reported that the same route had been stopped five times in the last two weeks because of of vandals throwing stones and setting off fireworks near buses.

Local Councillor Mark Ward slammed the behaviour of the thugs and urged parents to have conversations with their children about the dangers of such bahaviour.

He said: “I have had residents onto me who have been left waiting on buses or have been asked to leave the bus well before their desired stop.

"This is really affecting people of my community in North Clondalkin.

"We have had incidents in the past but it had quietened down but in the last two weeks there have been five incidents.

"Dublin Bus informed me that these mainly occurred on the Neilstown Road between the hours  8pm and 10pm. Residents have informed me that it is young people who are causing the damage."

He continued: "At the end of the day the people who are affected by their actions are their own family, friends and neighbours.

"The vast majority of young people in North Clondalkin would have nothing to do with this sort of behaviour but unfortunately it is a few young people who are letting the rest of them down."
