Dublin Bus drivers pelted with stones and rocks as 200 shocking assaults reported in two years

There has been over 200 assaults on Dublin Bus drivers over the past two years, a new report has found.

The shocking details, released under the Freedom of Information Act, revealed that 107 drivers were attacked on duty in 2018.

In 2019, the number reduced ever so slightly as 100 drivers were targeted while working in the capital.

Dermot O'Leary from the National Bus and Rail Union said: "I just think it's an appalling indictment on the type of culture that's prevalent across society.

He added: "That's probably doesn't include the stone-throwing and rock-throwing and the taking of drugs and smoking of heroin on buses that are reported by a lot of the local papers."
