Dublin Bus 'crashes' into city centre pub Doyle's during morning collision with private coach

A bar manager for a popular city centre pub has said that a Dublin Bus collided with the establishment during a collision on Friday morning.

The 145 service was driving around the corner from D’Olier Street into College Green when it crashed into a private coach and is said to have collided with the corner wall of Doyle's pub.

Doyle's bar manager Peggy Vather confirmed to Dublin Live that no damage had been done to the pub following the incident.

She said: "I was working at the time. Staff felt a big bang on the side of the building.

"One of the windows of the bus collided with the wall of the pub and smashed.

"We went out and saw that the bus had also hit into another bus.

"The gardai arrived and staff just swept up the remains of the broken glass but thankfully there was no damage done to the pub."

However, Dublin Bus remain adamant that the bus did not come in contact with the pub.

A spokesman for the company told Dublin Live: "Route 145 did not strike Doyle's pub today at 11am."

He added: "There was a minor collision involving a private coach and a route 145 service.

"Our Operations Team attended the scene and have confirmed that the bus didn’t strike the pub.

"Gardai attended the scene and confirmed there were no injuries."

Following the incident, there were minor delays to Luas Green Line services.

Traffic restrictions were also in place along D’Olier Street and Townsend Street as the incident was being dealt with.

Doyle's pub refused to comment when contacted by Dublin Live.
