Dublin Budget Buddy: Which properties can you buy in Rush, Dublin 8, Inchicore and Beaumont for €500k?

We're back with another wad of Euro notes burning a hole in our proverbial back pocket. This week, our budget is a healthy half million - not to be sniffed at, but how far does that go in different parts of Dublin?

As we find out, it can get you anything from a 2-bed apartment in the city to a 4-bed detached house by the seaside.

1 Clifflands Court, Rush
€500,000
4-bed detached house

In Rush, north County Dublin, half a million euros buys you the privacy of a large detached house and a sea view. Rush is an idyllic location, with beaches, golf courses and a slower pace of life than what you might find in the city, while you can use the train or nearby M1 to zoom into town.

The house is substantial but perhaps in need of modernisation. Nevertheless, with all that space indoors and out - including a sun room, utility room, 'TV room' and garage - you can see the appeal.

Apartment 107 Adelaide Square, Whitefriar Street, Dublin 8
€475,000
2-bed apartment

"Fabulously chic" are the words the agent uses to describe this city pad, and we couldn't put it better ourselves. A few paces from Aungier Street, Adelaide Square is right in the heart of things, so this place is ideal for those in love with city living.

The apartment is small but stunningly beautiful, with a stylish and ultra-modern kitchen, open-plan design and a picture window overlooking a private courtyard full of greenery and even a fountain.

57 Coolgreena Road, Beaumont
€495,000
3-bed semi-detached house

This handsome but unassuming red-brick semi conceals a magnificent interior - the house has been superbly refurbished with stylish decor and a stunning parquet floor throughout the ground floor.

It has also been extended to the rear, and now as well as a cosy sitting room at the front there's a huge, open plan kitchen/dining/living room at the back, opening out onto the well landscaped garden.

Throw in a separate office/gym outbuilding and you've got an amazing home ready for a family.

9 Granite Terrace, Inchicore
€495,000
3-bed terraced house

A stunning period property in the heart of the up-and-coming Inchicore village, just a short distance from Kilmainham and not far from the city centre.

The house has lots of attractive features, like original sash windows, fireplaces and wood burners, a beautifully tiled entrance hall and even a wooden treehouse designed and built by sculptor Daniel Doyle - it can accommodate eight adults seated, perfect for summer parties.
