Dublin Budget Buddy: Which properties can you buy in Donnybrook, Drumcondra, Foxrock and Balbriggan for €700k?

Just shy of three-quarters of a million is a substantial budget for a prospective house-buyer in Dublin, but just how far does that money go?

We find out with a look at four very different properties in four different areas - from city suburbs to rural North Dublin.

Simmonscourt Terrace, Donnybrook
€695,000
2-bed bungalow

You could call this house small, but perfectly formed. It certainly has all the charm and unique appeal you can ask for, hidden behind a villa-style façade.

The house makes use of skylights to add even more natural light to the cosy interior, which has a relaxed, open-plan feel and patio doors from the kitchen/diner to a lovely courtyard garden.

Location-wise, you're in a quiet cul-de-sac, seconds from the River Dodder and in the heart of Donnybrook village.

25 Millmount Avenue, Drumcondra
€650,000
3-bed terraced house

This Drumcondra terrace has the best of both worlds - a gorgeous red-brick exterior and plenty of period features, like ceiling cornices, varnished wood floors and a real fireplace in the living room.

Out to the back, though, there's a fantastic modern extension that offers a state-of-the-art kitchen/diner and a rear sitting room that leads out to the terraced garden.

All of this is in a great location, close to all of Drumcondra's amenities including Griffith Park at the end of the street.

4 Beech Park Avenue, Foxrock
€695,000
4-bed semi-detached house

In sought-after Foxrock, just shy of €700k gets you a substantial and rather grand family home. The interior may be a little dated, but there's no hiding the appeal of this bright and very spacious house.

The ground floor has ample living space, with separate living room and drawing rooms, a large kitchen/diner and a formal dining room. Some buyers may even look at combining a couple of the rooms for a more open-plan feel.

Outside, there's a small front garden and a fantastic, mature back garden with a block-built shed and a timber garden shed.

Slieve Donard, Stephenstown, Balbriggan
€695,000
5-bed detached house

As ever, if it's maximum space you're after in Dublin, your best bet is to head to the rural north of the county.

On the outskirts of Balbriggan - and just off the M1 - you'll find this magnificent, secluded detached house, set in around an acre of land. There's an imposing entrance gate, a long driveway and mature greenery in abundance.

Inside, the house is full of old-world grandeur, with period features galore as well as a large, modern kitchen/diner and bathrooms.
