Dublin bee sanctuary offers services after hundreds swarm the capital

A Dublin honey shop is offering its services after an unbee-livable number of bees have been swarming to the capital thanks to the lovely weather.

Dublin Honey Killester have advised residents in the north of the capital to contact them if they see the winged stingers in their garden or elsewhere.

A spokesperson for the sanctuary said: “A busy day yesterday collecting swarms of honey bees around the north Dublin area. The bees are now happily relocated in their new home in our apiary.

“If you see something like this in your garden or elsewhere please don't destroy it or call pest control! Contact us if you are in the north Dublin area, or swarms.ie who can put you in contact with a local beekeeper who will come to collect the swarm free of charge.

“Please share so that honeybee swarms can be relocated safely and allowed to thrive in a safely managed environment.”

Just last week residents of a north Kildare town were warned to be careful after a huge swarm of bees descended on the Main Street.

Thousands of the winged stingers were spotted gathering around a flower pot outside a bookmakers in Celbridge.

Local Jolanta Rossiter shared an amazing picture of the striped honey makers on a local Facebook group and urged people to be wary as they approach the area.

And thousands of bees took up residence outside a local shop in Chapelizod on June 23.

One shocked local told Dublin Live that people were forced to run for cover as the bees landed.

She said: "We saw them swarming like a cloud through the Industrial Estate a couple of hours earlier and ran for cover.

"Apparently, they are moving and taking a rest as the queen gets tired flying so they need to stop off for breaks."
