Dublin beauty clinic uses revolutionary chair to treat urinary incontinence

A Dublin clinic is using a breakthrough treatment to treat urinary incontinence.

Beauty guru Eavanna Breen has introduced the revolutionary Emsella chair to her clinic, Akina Beauty. This is the first time the Leeson Street clinic is offering treatment outside of skincare.

The machine uses electromagnetic pulses to treat urinary incontinence. The pulses provide an intense workout to the pelvic floor area and a single session brings 11,000 pelvic floor muscle contractions while being completely pain-free.

Evanna said: "I learned of clients who go to extraordinary measures to deal with urinary incontinence every day. From those who skip jumping jacks in gym classes, to those who can’t go on the trampoline with their kids, to those who wear pads and even some who have even learned to only sneeze with their legs crossed! Knowing the alternative is they are going to pee a little bit."

Eavanna did some digging over the years and found that the Emsella chair was approved by the FDA for treating urinary incontinence. Evanna added: "As a mother, I have always been aware of the need to maintain a healthy pelvic floor, but it wasn’t until I was chatting to one particular client that was suffering particularly badly that I started to research the possible treatments available for the condition.

"I knew that we could improve collagen production in the skin, that we could tighten muscles with faradic, so, therefore, I knew that there must be something out there that could help tighten the pelvic floor.

“Unfortunately, this is not something that is often spoken about in Ireland, so when I first discovered this technology, I was excited by how this treatment is going to save so much hassle, worry and stress for Irish women, with this pain-free, non-invasive experience."

You can get a course of six treatments is €1,800 and treatments at Akina Beauty. These sessions are done twice weekly ideally but can be done only once per week if needed. A minimum of 6 treatments is required, with some people needing more to achieve desired results.
