Dublin bartender applauded for classy gesture to customer during stormy weather

A Dublin pub has been applauded after an extraordinary gesture of goodwill to a local customer during the horrific weather at the weekend.

The skies in the capital were extremely grey across Sunday and Monday, with torrential rain ruining any hopes of outdoor dining for any people who had hoped to grab a bite to eat or a pint.

But one man did get caught out in the storms - only for a bartender at The Pines on Whitehall Road in Terenure to step up to the plate.

The short but sweet clip shows one of their hardworking members of staff carrying an umbrella stand from one of their tables over the head of a wheelchair user passing the pub.

Worker Frankie was described by bosses as going "above and beyond" with one regular at the boozer describing him as a "proper gentleman".

Since the clip was posted on Facebook, it has been going viral - with a repost of the clip on Twitter being seen over 500,000 times.

And people were gushing over Frankie and the decision.

One user said "My goal is to raise sobs who turn into young men like this." with a second hailing the Irish spirit by saying "I've always said the Irish are some of the nicest people in the world and this backs it up"

A third captured the thoughts of many, when he promised that The Pines was "added to my list of establishments to spend money at..."
