Dublin barbershop Abner Brown's have brought back their popular music nights

A small Dublin barber shop has relaunched its renowned gig nights promoting the top of independent Irish music.

Abner Brown's Barbershop in Rathmines became famous a few years ago and had international media taking notice when R.E.M frontman Michael Stipe popped his head into the intimate venue to see what all the fuss was about.

Owner and founder Dave Judge said he decided to relaunch the famous music night after being inundated with requests from the public.

He kicked things off again on Wednesday with up-and-coming acts ELLYD and State Lights taking centre stage.

Wedged to capacity on the night, Dave told the music loving crowd that he was planning on bringing the monthly session back to rapturous cheers.

Speaking to Dublin Live, Dave who is also an extremely popular barber and owner of top Dublin hotspot The Underground, said he’s happy the infamous music night is back.

He said: “Wednesday night was amazing and we got a great turn out. Tickets for the event sold out very quickly.

“From what i’m hearing people are delighted that the night is back.

“ELLYD and State Lights were our first acts to play and they didn’t disappoint. They were incredible and the crowd loved them.

“The gigs in the barbershop aren’t about making money, it’s about giving artists, especially independent ones, a platform.”
