Dublin band Fontaines D.C. nominated for a Grammy Award

Dublin band Fontaines D.C. have been nominated for their first Grammy Award.

The five-person post-punk revival band were announced as the nominees in the Best Rock Album category for their album, a Hero's Death.

The Big hitmakers took to social media to celebrate the news.

They said on Instagram: "JAYSUS WE’VE BEEN NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY FOR BEST ROCK ALBUM WITH A HERO’S DEATH."

The last Irish artist to be nominated for a Grammy Award was Hozier in the Song of the Year category for his smash hit song Take Me To Church in 2015.

And the last Irish band to win the award were The Chieftains in 1997 who won the Best World Music Album for Santiago.

The 63rd Grammy Award will take place on January 31, 2021.
