Dublin and Kildare punters urged to check Lotto tickets after two players win combined €1.8million

The National Lottery is urging punters in Dublin and Kildare to check their tickets after two huge prizes were won in Wednesday's draw.

The capital has a new millionaire after a winning Lotto Plus 1 ticket worth a whopping €1million was sold at Texaco Spar Express on Crumlin Road.

The winning numbers were: 2, 13, 15, 34, 38, 40 and the bonus ball was 37.

A staff member at the winning store said: "There’s been serious excitement all morning once the news got out about the winning ticket.

"We’ve a lot of regular local customers, so we really hope that one of them has won. It’s a great feel-good story for the area."

The winning wasn't limited to just the capital either, after another lucky punter in Kildare netted a cool €795,450 when they matched five numbers and the bonus ball.

However, the player was just one number short of claiming the €5,683,438 jackpot.

The winning Kildare ticket was sold at Mayfield Texaco and Spar at junction 14 motorway services, Ballynagalliagh Road, Monasterevin.

Store manager Robert Weldon said: “We’re delighted to have sold the winning ticket in the Spar store here. There is a great buzz about the place this morning.

"Once we started spreading the good news to customers there was a stampede of people in checking their tickets.

"It really could be anyone. Where we are, we get so much passing trade, so it really could be anyone up and down the country who is the winner. I wish them the very best.”

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We are appealing to all our players in Dublin and Kildare to check their tickets carefully this morning.

"This is amazing news for two lucky Lotto ticketholders in the East. This is the fifth Lotto Plus 1 millionaire made this year alone and it is great to have a winner of the highest match five and bonus prize in Lotto history.

"If you are one of these lucky winners be sure to sign the back of your ticket and get in touch with our prize claims team on 01 836 4444 and we will make arrangements for you to come to the National Lottery Winner’s Room to get your prize”.

There was no winner of last night’s €5,683,438 Lotto jackpot, which now rolls to an estimated €6.2 million for next Saturday’s draw.
