Dublin Airport update Covid-19 testing rules for fully vaccinated arrivals

New Covid-19 testing requirements for passengers flying into Dublin Airport are set to be introduced from tomorrow.

The requirement for passengers to present a negative antigen or PCR test result at the airport is set to be lifted from January 6.

This requirement to provide proof of a negative antigen or PCR test was introduced to slow the spread of Omicron.

However, with this variant now dominant in Ireland, officials believe being asked to provide a negative test result will have no impact on the Omicron spread in Ireland.

But there are still documents that passengers will have to provide on arrival.

Passengers still need to show an EU Digital Covid Cert that proves they're either fully vaccinated, fully recovered from Covid-19 or tested negative through a PCR.

CMO Tony Holohan gave the go-ahead for Government to relax the rules for those flying into the country.

The move comes as those being treated in hospital with Covid-19 stands at 928 cases. In the last 24 hours, 74 people have been admitted to hospital with Covid-19 and 105 have been discharged.

There have been seven admissions to ICU and three discharges. 94 people are currently in ICU with Covid-19.

In the last seven days, 280,869 tests have been completed with the positivity rate standing at 50.4%.
