Dublin Airport travel worry as ten COVID cases confirmed among new hotel quarantine passengers

Ten COVID cases have been detected among new passengers currently in hotel quarantine in Ireland.

The HSE confirmed the dozen positive cases out of 419 people currently in hotel quarantine which has been up and running since late March.

Guests must undergo testing on the first and 10th days of their 12-night quarantine along with forking out for the stay from their own pocket.

The number of travellers facing mandatory hotel quarantine is set to increase substantially within the coming weeks with further confirmed cases feared.

Meanwhile two North Dublin walk-in testing centres have returned the highest positivity rate of all the new facilities that opened last week in updated figures released by the HSE.

Centres in Finglas at Colaiste Eoin and in Blanchardstown both have the highest positivity levels, with tests there hovering over 4% positivity.

The two sites were also well above the average of 2.6% for the other locations that have popped up across the country.

More centres are set to open in Dublin, with Ballyfermot set to get one later this week.

The "no appointment necessary" clinics opened last week.

Over 25,000 have attended, with a total of 635 cases detected, not all of which were asymptomatic cases.

The 25-44 year old group makes up 45% of walk-ins.

The testing centres are open from 11am to 7pm.

You can use this free, walk-in COVID-19 testing service if you:

· are aged 16 years and over

· do not have symptoms of COVID-19 but would like to be tested

· live within 5k of the walk-in testing centre

· have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the last six months
