Dublin Airport travel update as gardai visiting homes of those not compliant with COVID-19 monitoring

Passengers flying into Dublin Airport that are not being compliant with the COVID-19 monitoring process are receiving home visits from gardai.

People arriving into Ireland, including by ferry, are required to fill in a form on their arrival to ensure they're following restricted movement guidelines on arrival.

And there is a list of countries that require mandatory quarantine upon arrival into the country.

This weekend gardai have been carrying out house checks who have been reported to not be engaging with the Department of Health.

Under Irish COVID-19 laws, those who do not comply with regulations surrounding travel, including the need for a negative PCR test, are subject to a €2,500 fine or prison for up to six months.

A garda spokesman said: "This weekend, Gardaí will be undertaking a series of house checks on people entering the State who are reported to An Garda Síochána as not engaging with the Department of Health monitoring process.

"To date, detectives in GNIB have already conducted house calls in relation to people who entered the State without the required PCR tests.

"The health and safety of Garda personnel is a key priority for the organisation and has been throughout the pandemic."
