Dublin Airport travel update as arrivals self-isolation to undergo major change for UK/US passengers

The rules on self-isolation for arrivals into Dublin Airport from the UK and US is to undergo a major change, it has been confirmed.

Starting on Monday, July 19, fully vaccinated arrivals from the US or UK will not have to enter a period of self-isolation once they arrive at Dublin Airport.

Vaccinated arrivals from those two countries also won't need to supply a negative PCR test result but unvaccinated people will have to follow the current rules.

This new rule comes into force on the same day that the EU digital cert comes into effect in Ireland having been delayed here because of the cyberattack on the HSE.

This allows for unrestricted travel across the EU for people who are fully vaccinated, recovered from Covid-19 or can supply a negative PCR test.

This change comes as The Department of Health has confirmed an additional 1,377 new coronavirus cases in Ireland this afternoon.

There are currently 78 people receiving treatment in hospital with 22 in ICU.

Concerns about the Delta variant continue to rise across the country with young people and those who have not been fully vaccinated advised to avoid social gatherings such as barbecues this weekend.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said yesterday: "We continue to experience rapid increases in the incidence of the disease in the community, with cases increasing in 22 out of 26 counties and with the greatest majority of cases occurring in people who have not yet been fully vaccinated.
