Dublin Airport travel hope as promising summer holiday boost issued by EU

Sunseekers rejoice as your dreams of spending the summer abroad may yet come true thanks to the EU's vaccine passport.

While spending the holidays abroad might seem a little far fetched at the moment, the EU Parliament's Digital Green Certificate proposal could make it a reality.

EU bosses are hoping to fast-track the vaccine passport which will allow EU citizens who received the COVID-19 jab to travel easily during the pandemic.

The news comes as Aer Lingus announced the launch of a new route from Dublin to Barbados via Manchester.

This will be the first-ever Caribbean destination for Aer Lingus as services will begin on October 20.

Flights will operate twice weekly until the beginning of November 2021, when they will then increase to three times per week, offering even more access to the beautiful island of Barbados for Irish holidaymakers.

Barbados Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Senator the Hon. Lisa Cummins said: "Barbados has a long, shared history with Ireland, one which is of great significance and importance to the many Barbadians of Irish heritage.

"The establishment of this new Aer Lingus route will allow the relationship between our two countries to continue to grow and flourish.”

“With connectivity from both Dublin, Belfast and Cork, it is now easier than ever for Irish people to come and explore the beautiful Island of Barbados.

"This is the start of a long-term relationship with Aer Lingus. In the future, Barbados hopes to see a direct service from Dublin to complement this Manchester route."
