Dublin Airport road closed as driver in critical condition and two passengers seriously injured after horror car crash

A driver is in a critical condition and two of his passengers seriously injured following a horror car crash near Dublin Airport late on Friday night.

The serious single vehicle collision took place at around 10pm on the R108 road near Dublin Airport which was closed for a time for forensic investigations but has since reopened.

The man behind the wheel of the car, who is in his 30s, was rushed to Beaumont Hospital and remains in a critical condition this morning.  

Two male passengers in the car, aged in their 20s and 30s, were also brought to the same hospital but their injuries are described as being non-life threatening.

A Garda investigation has been launched into the terrifying incident.

A spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating a serious single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 10pm on Friday, 31st July 2020, on the R108 road near Dublin Airport.

"The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is currently described as critical.  

"Two male passengers of the vehicle, aged in their 20s and 30s, were taken to Beaumont Hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

He added: "The road was closed for a time for an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened and investigations are ongoing."
