Dublin Airport respond brilliantly after being asked if they can trap Matt Damon in Ireland

Dublin Airport responded brilliantly when asked if they could stop Matt Damon from leaving the country.

The Hollywood actor has become a favourite in Dalkey as he seamlessly integrated to local life after being stuck here during the Covid-19 lockdown.

And a spokesman for Dublin Airport took to social media to respond after some locals asked if they might be able to keep Matt in Dublin when he tries to return to the United States, Dublin Live reports.

"In response to a number of queries, we can confirm that we’re unable to stop Matt Damon returning to the US if and when he so chooses," they joked.

"That would be a repatriation journey.

"Even though some of us would like to, we can’t just keep the guy indefinitely."

Yesterday the Oscar winning Hollywood star sent a special video message to the 6th year class in Loreto Abbey, Dalkey.

Due to Covid restrictions, they've been out of school and today would have been their final day in their journey toward adult life.

And their teachers organised a special surprise with Dalkey's lockdown local, who was more than happy to oblige.

In the video message, shared by journalist Flor Mac Carthy, the 49-year-old said: "Hey this is Matt Damon, I wanted to say congratulations to the Loreto Abbey graduating class of 2020.

"You guys are awesome, and I'm sorry you have to do all this from quarantine. But congratulations, what an achievement, and good for you guys. I'm thinkin' about ya."

The Jason Bourne series star has been spotted by crafty Dalkey locals recently enjoying the scenic seaside suburb.

He was due to film a new Ridley Scott directed flick, The Last Duel, here this month but filming was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
