Dublin Airport passenger receives kind gesture on flight to see sick sister with cancer from United Airlines

A Dublin Airport passenger received an extremely kind gesture on a recent flight with United Airlines as Ireland was forced into a nationwide Level 3 lockdown.

The flier had to leave the capital to see her sister, who is currently battling with cancer, but was understandably nervous about the potentially dangerous trip.

Picking up Covid-19 while travelling could be detrimental to her sister's health condition but luckily a United Airline's employee was on hand to make sure she was well looked after on the trip.

Taking to Twitter, she thanked the thoughtful worker who eased her mind on the journey with his big gift.

She said: "Thank you to the lovely United Airline employee at Dublin Airport who gave me this huge bag of sanitiser products.

She added: "He knew I was travelling to visit my sister who has cancer and didn't want me to pick anything up on the way.

"There is good people out there. Thank you so much."

Passenger numbers at Dublin Airport fell by 87% last month as just over 392,000 passengers travelled through in September.

A spokesman for Dublin Airport said: "Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe fell by 84%, as just over 274,000 people travelled to and from European destinations last month.

"UK traffic declined by 89% compared to last September, with just over 87,000 passengers travelling to and from Britain during the month.

Because of the ongoing effects of Covid-19, nearly 19 million fewer passengers are using Dublin Airport than normal so far this year.

He continued: "Other international passenger traffic to the Middle East fell by 93%, with almost 5,900 passengers travelling last month.

"The number of passengers on domestic routes fell by 72%, as just over 2,600 people took domestic flights in September.

"Just over 6.6 million passengers have travelled through Dublin Airport between January and September, a 74% decrease compared to the same period last year."
