A Derry bride has praised bus company Translink for going to extreme lengths after she forgot to pack vital medication for her honeymoon.
Elaine McDaid who is an Irish soprano based in Barcelona got married over Christmas and was heading on her honeymoon from Dublin Airport when she realised she forgot to pack the 'essential' medication.
She took to Twitter to ask if anyone travelling from Derry would be able to meet her at the Airport but Translink were on hand to make sure that the problem was resolved before they reached the capital.
The worried bride said on Twitter: "Anyone driving from Derry to Dublin Airport today? I’m going on honeymoon for 3 weeks and forgot to pack essential medication. Can meet at airport any time up to 3pm."
Translink replied: "Hi Elaine, that won't be a problem. The Inspector has your name and is going to speak with the driver to let them know your mother will be there. Be sure you're at the stop outside terminal 2 for 13:50 (a bit beforehand wouldn't hurt)."
But in a bizarre twist of events, Elaine's mam ended up missing the bus outside terminal 2 leading to a bizarre rush to catch up with the Translink driver.
Updating her followers, Elaine said: "My mum & dad missed the bus. Had to drive like maniacs to overtake him and catch him at the next stop."
She added: "Driver refused to take any payment as thanks, and told them to put it in the charity box. Thank you to Translink what a good and decent service."
Elaine finished off by saying that the company had performed a "Christmas Miracle" and described them as "superheroes".
