A Dublin Airport cargo plane heading for Iceland declared a mid-air emergency after getting into difficulty.
The plane was headed for Iceland when the alert was issued of a "potentially difficult landing" forcing it to divert and ground in Scotland.
Flight radar states that the Bluebird Nordic plane took off from the capital just before 7am and was on path for Reykjavik when it did a u-turn towards Aberdeen shortly after 8am.
Alerts were sent on Twitter after a swift drop in altitude was noticed in the path flight.
Fire crews rushed to Aberdeen International Airport about the incoming plane while the coastguard also sent a lifeboat team in response to the distress call.
Thankfully, a spokesman for Aberdeen Airport confirmed the cargo plane landed safely at 9.02am.
The Coastguard said: "We were called following an emergency aircraft alert at Stornoway Airport.
“The aircraft was diverted and the lifeboat stood down.
A spokeswoman for the fire crew added: "We were called out to the airport at 8.09am.
"There was an aircraft coming in that was going to have a potentially difficult landing but we were stood down."
