A whopping €170,000 has been seized by gardai following raids on a number of properties in north Dublin.

Gardai recovered the cash after swooping on two houses in Ballymun and a house and separate stable yard in North County Dublin today.

The searches were carried out under Operation Tara by officers from the DMR North Divisional Drugs Unit.

They were assisted by the Divisional Search Team and the Dog Unit from Dublin Airport Customs.

A man in his 30s has been arrested and is currently being detained at Ballymun garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A garda spokesman said investigations into the seizure are ongoing.
