Dubliners' experience of travelling through Dublin Airport is set to change massively with major works being carried out for the next 15 weeks.
While security and Covid-19 measures have been beefed up, which means passengers should arrive three hours before flying, just getting to the airport now is going to be very different.
The internal roads system, which everyone knows so well, is being altered so that it can be upgraded.
The roadworks started on July 14 and will continue every night from 8 pm - 4 am for the next 15 weeks until October.
The works will be carried out in three stages - the first road that will be upgraded is Corballis Road North with works being carried out between July 14 - August 13.
The second road to be upgraded is East Link Road, which goes past both the Maldron Hotel and Radisson Blu, from August 18 - September 14.
The final road to be enhanced is the T2 Departures road which leads directly past Terminal 2 which will be worked on from September 20 - October 7.
During this time, traffic will be reduced to one lane which will affect thousands of passengers every day. A full traffic management system will be in place.
"Dublin Airport operates in a safety culture environment and continuous maintenance across the airport’s campus is paramount to ensure all areas of the airport are safe for all users," said Dublin Airport Spokesperson, Siobhán O’Donnell.
"The works are taking place now and at night to minimise disruption to the operation while current traffic volumes are low."
