Just over 47% of confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday in Ireland were in Dublin.
Figures released by the Department of Health this evening show that of the 271 cases confirmed in the Republic as of midnight on Monday, March 16, 129 of those were in the capital.
A county by county breakdown was released that shows after Dublin, Cork had the highest number of cases at 48.
Limerick had 14, Galway had 12, nine were in Wicklow, both Waterford and Westmeath had seven, Kerry had six while there were less than five cases in Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Kildare, Kilkenny, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Wexford.
The only counties without a confirmed case by Monday were Laois, Leitrim and Monaghan.
This evening, the Department confirmed that there are 366 cases in the Republic.
There are also 68 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Northern Ireland.
The overall figure for the island of Ireland is currently 434 cases.
As of midday today, there were two deaths in the Republic that were caused by complication from the coronavirus. Both had underlying health conditions.
Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer in the Department of Health, said: “Again, today we are seeing another increase in case numbers.
"The importance of social distancing cannot be underestimated. Everyone must play their role.
“We need to continue maximising our efforts to interrupt new transmission chains and keep clusters under control.
“Reduce your social contacts to those in your closest family network. Practice social distancing. Stop shaking hands and hugging when you say hello.”
