Dubai has been removed from the UK travel corridor as thousands are now being told to isolate when they return.

Anyone currently out in the United Arab Emirates will have to quarantine on return to England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland following a rise in Covid-19 cases.

Previously, people have been able to travel freely between the destination and the UK, but from 4am on Tuesday the rules will be changing.

According to Mirror Online, travellers in the luxury states of Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be required to self-isolate.

The UK Department of Transport made the announcement on Monday evening via the Foreign Office on Twitter.

They tweeted: "International travel is restricted.

"Stay at home.

"Take Action Now."

On the government website, the FCDO said: " The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to t he whole of the United Arab Emirates based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.

"If you are returning to Scotland from the remainder of the UAE on or after 4am on 12 January, you will need to self-isolate on your return.

Celebrities and influencers have come under fire in recent weeks over their lavish trips to Dubai during the pandemic.

Former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh herself has hit out at her fellow celebs, slamming the hoards of social media influencers who jetted out to luxury destinations like Dubai amid the pandemic.

The 44-year-old said she was concerned that jetsetters are hardly practising social distancing on their sunny holidays and risk bringing Covid-19 back into the UK.
