A government agency in Dubai has introduced a new technology that analyzes the faces of customers to measure their level of satisfaction.

Officials from the Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) said Tuesday that the agency has started using smart cameras at its service centers "to monitor the satisfaction and happiness of the customers with the quality and the efficiency of services."

Maher Shirah, director of smart services at the RTA's corporate technology support services sector, said the technology analyzes the facial expressions of customers - without saving images in respect of their privacy, before and after processing their transactions at the center.

Accordingly, the technology gives an instant and accurate indicator of their happiness.

Shirah explained that the UAE-manufactured AI-powered cameras are "highly accurate".

The camera has wireless connectivity, and automatically restarts in case of any failure. There is remote support for the camera to ensure seamless operation 24/7.

The system sends detailed reports on the level of customer happiness; it also sends instant notifications when the happiness rating in any center falls short of the predefined level, so the concerned parties can take action necessary to restore their satisfaction level.
