Dua Lipa sends sweet message to Liverpool after coronavirus delays visit

Dua Lipa has sent a sweet message to Liverpudlians after her visit to the city was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Don't Start Now singer was due to perform at the M&S Bank Arena on May 29 2020.

But Dua was forced to postpone her UK and European arena shows as coronavirus cases across the continent continue to rise.

The Future Nostalgia concert in Liverpool has now been rescheduled to January 6 2021.

Dua first captured Liverpool's heart when she performed at the Champions League final in Kiev in 2018, and was given a warm welcome by the thousands of Reds fans gathered at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium.

And despite her performance in the city being postponed this year, she was keen to send a message to her Liverpool supporters.

Responding to a tweet from Liverpool FC, which wished the singer luck with her new album, Dua said: "Thank you so much. Looking forward to seeing you at my show in Liverpool in January!"

Fans responded in joy, with one tweeting: "I. LIVE IN LIVERPOOL OMG."

Amy joked: "I swear if she doesn't go for Liverpool now after all this."

Others asked if she would come to Liverpool's potential parade for winning the Premier League title.

Another said: "You killed it at the Champions League FINAL in 2018!!"

Earlier this year Dua revealed she would love to make the trip to Anfield in the future to watch the Reds in action.

At the time, she told Liverpoolfc.com : "I'll definitely come to a game some time. My dad, who is a big Arsenal fan but has a soft spot for Liverpool, and my manager Ben, who is a big Liverpool fan, are working out when that can be.

"I’m so happy Liverpool are doing well this year and I’m looking forward to a party in May in Liverpool!"
