Dua Lipa's boyfriend Anwar Hadid slammed for being a Covid-19 'anti-vaxxer'

Anwar Hadid has been slammed after claiming that he would 'absolutely not' get the new Covid-19 vaccine.

The 21-year-old model, who is dating songstress Dua Lipa, told his Instagram followers that he wouldn't get protected against the virus but instantly faced a backlash.

In his Instagram Q&A the famous sibling of Gigi and Bella Hadid was asked: "Will u take the vaccine?"

He replied: "Absolutely not."

Another follower then asked him, “Why are you anti vax,” to which he explained his position.

"Either I just don't get it or I get it and god willing heal from it and get antibodies rather than do that process unaturally, our bodies are made by the creator to do way more than we think," he wrote.

Anwar - who also suffers from Lyme Disease - was criticised on social media following his response.

“Anwar hadid saying he would rather get covid than get the actual vaccine as if he doesn’t have a life-threatening disease,” wrote one Twitter user.

Another added: "I’m sitting here 7 months after catching covid still suffering on a daily basis over what it did to my body just for anwar hadid to put out that ignorant a** info on the internet pls help me."

"Anwar hadid is an anti vaxxer? he has a baby niece, can he not play games right now," wrote a third.

A representative for Anwar has been approached by The Mirror for comment.

Contrary to Anwar's claims about catching Covid-19 and developing antibodies, there have been cases of Covid-19 reinfection and it is still unclear to scientists how long any type of immunity to the virus lasts.

While Anwar claims to be against the vaccine, a number of high-profile stars have already received the first part of the vaccine and urged others to do the same when given the opportunity.

So far in the UK, those over 80 and health care workers are currently eligible for the vaccine - which you receive in two parts.

While the vaccine is largely reserved for elderly people in the UK for now, over the in the US the vaccine programme has been made accessible to Congress.

There have already been many prominent figures that have received the first vaccine, among them 31-year-old Alexandria Oscasio-Cortez, who wrote: "I would would never, ever ask you to do something I wasn’t willing to do myself. Yesterday, in accordance with national security protocols, Congress began to get vaccinated."
