Dua Lipa, who’s just as famous for her enviable vacations as she is for her pop music, has dropped her go-to spots to visit whenever she’s in Australia — and I can’t take notes fast enough.
The singer prepared the list of Aussie hotspots as part of Google Maps’ collaboration with Service95, the culture, arts and travel platform she founded and launched in 2022.
With the help of Google Maps, Dua dropped a pin on her favourite spots all over the world, with five Australian restaurants, bars and other venues making the list.
She has toured all over the world, with plenty of stops Down Under, so if you want the travel itinerary of a literal pop star (you deserve it!), look no further than these top five Aussie spots that all got the seal of approval from Dua.
Hope Street Radio, Melbourne
Hope Street Radio is a wine bar nestled in Collingwood, Melbourne that doubles as the headquarters of the namesake radio station. It features live performances from local artists in a retro-style dining room, but don’t just take my word for it.
“Hope Street Radio in Melbourne has great music, a really considered wine list, and an atmosphere that manages to be both cool and welcoming,” Dua said in her official Google Maps review of the venue.
Ester, Sydney
Wood-fired menu? Check. Renowned head chef? Check. Unbeatable atmosphere? Check, check, check. This Chippendale restaurant is “a Sydney essential,” Dua reckons.
“Ester in Sydney is wood-fired cooking and excellent natural wine in a room that always has great energy. The menu changes constantly, and there’s a real confidence to the cooking that I love. A Sydney essential,” she said.
10 William Street, Sydney
This Paddington restaurant had me at “Italian food”, but Dua is more eloquent with her review than me. “10 William Street in Paddington is one of those places that just gets it right,” she wrote.
“Great Italian-influenced natural wine list, brilliant food, and a room that feels like it belongs somewhere in Rome or Naples.” Hey so it’s lunch time and I’m drooling!
Paperback, Melbourne
Now with a rightfully full stomach, you might be wondering what other activities you can get up to, and Dua — ever the travel guide — thankfully came in clutch with a rec for bookworms in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
“Paperback in Melbourne is a tiny bookshop in Fitzroy with a clear sense of what it loves. Literary fiction, translated literature, and small press titles. The staff recommendations are worth trusting — it’s a great browse,” the singer said.
Plug Seven, Melbourne
What good would an itinerary be without some tunes?
“One of my favourite places for vinyl is Plug Seven record shop in Fitzroy, Melbourne, because of its eclectic selections. It also has 7 inches as collectibles, and they’re often buying rare collections,” Dua wrote. When it comes to music, I trust the woman who can get my booty “Levitating”.
So there you have it, folks — a complete travel timetable of go-to Aussie hotspots compiled by none other than Dua Lipa herself. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to galavant!
