Dua Lipa Has Opened A Library For Banned Books Right When We Thought She Couldn’t Get Cooler

The hot and educated diva convention is officially in session, and at the helm of the festivities is recently-married pop star and cool-girl extraordinaire, Dua Lipa. This woman is everywhere. One month ago, she had her first wedding to actor Callum Turner — a chic London civil ceremony which saw her in a custom Schiaparelli suit. One week ago, she had her second wedding, a lavish party in Palermo. And while Dua Lipa and her new hubby are keeping us well-fed on their Instagrams with their honeymoon dumps, the ‘One Kiss’ singer said “that’s not enough”. Now, she’s opened a library for banned books.

Could she get more iconic?!

The Manifesto Library, which is based in Porto, Portugal, features 100 books that “challenge power, censorship, exclusion, and dominant narratives.” Some of the titles included in the collection Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Reginald Dwayne BettsFelon. The library is in partnership with Livraria Lello, one of the most famous bookstore’s in the world due to its breathtaking Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau architecture.

In an Instagram post, Dua Lipa said that the library “stems from the belief that much more than a story is lost when a book is censored”.

“[The library is a] shrine to books that have disappeared, to authors whose courage unmasks structures of power and control, and to readers who refuse to be told what book they are allowed to read,” she said in a separate statement.

Dua Lipa went on: “Sometimes the most subversive thing you can do is read a book and then talk about it.”

Her library opening has come off the back of her and Callum Turner’s wedding extravaganza. The two got hitched in Palermo — after officially tying the knot first in London — in what can only be described as the most iconic wedding of 2026.

Dua Lipa’s dress was as extravagant as the wedding itself, comprised of over 480,000 beads and 25,000 feathers which were hand-stitched onto the gown — a Matthieu Blazy custom for Chanel.

Ugh I love them. (Image: @dualipa)

Now, the newly weds are frolicking about Italy, posting what looks to be the most lavish road trip one ever did see on Dua Lipa’s Instagram. Honeymooning AND open a library resisting oppressive regimes, all while feeding her loyal fans on social media? Callum Turner got himself a woman who can do both!

Despite what some people may think, the Manifesto Library is very on brand for the singer. Dua Lipa is the founder Service95, a curated newsletter on culture, politics and world issues. She also has a book club, Service95 Book Club, dedicated to “reading the world differently”, which has covered books including Having Spent Life Seeking by Kae Tempest, So Late In The Day by Claire Keegan and Jez Butterworth‘s Jerusalem.

Can this woman get any more cool?!

The Manifesto Library is officially open for business, so if you’re one of the lucky ducks heading overseas for a European holiday, you might wanna make sure you hit Porto so you can pay it a visit. What can we say, it’s a Dua Lipa summer!
